The Green Bay Packers have 11 picks in the 2024 NFL draft and a big chance to add foundational players and provide answers for roster needs. The event begins on Thursday night with the first round, starts up again Friday night with the second and third rounds and finishes on Saturday with Rounds 3-7.

Who will general manager Brian Gutekunst target to solidify his roster this week?

Here’s one great fit at each of the Packers’ need positions for each day of the 2024 NFL draft:

Safety

Day 1 – Jaden Hicks, Washington State: Is there a safety in the class good enough to go in the first round? Hicks might have the best chance. He has the right mix of size, athleticism and versatility, and his physical style could be a good mix with Xavier McKinney. Cooper DeJean is another Day 1 option if the Packers believe he’s a safety first.

Day 2 – Cole Bishop, Utah: The 21-year-old is 6-2, ran 4.45 in the 40-yard dash, has a Relative Athletic Score of 9.88, excelled at the Senior Bowl and has experience playing in the box and deep. Packers type all the way.

Day 3 – Kitan Oladapo, Oregon State:Pre-draft visitor who looks tailormade to play strong safety alongside McKinney. His athleticism isn’t on the same level as Hicks or Bishop but he’s physical against the run and good at finding the football in coverage (26 pass breakups over last three years).

Linebacker

Day 1 – Edgerrin Cooper, Texas A&M:Cooper and Junior Colson are both in the running to be the first linebacker off the board. The Packers just don’t have any testing on Colson. Cooper was a dominant player in the SEC last season and tested like an elite athlete.

Day 2 – Trevin Wallace, Kentucky: A pre-draft visitor to Green Bay who brings both experience in the SEC and athleticism to the table. Wallace is 237 pounds and ran 4.5 in the 40. Cedric Gray of UNC could be another Day 2 option.

Day 3 – Edefuan Ulofoshio, Washington: He’s on the shorter side and is already 24 years old, but Ulofoshio checks all the other boxes. Athleticism, motor, special teams talent. If the Packers want Payton Wilson but don’t want to spend a premium pick on an older prospect with a scary injury history, Ulofoshio is a nice backup plan on Day 3. Temple’s Jordan Magee, Penn State’s Curtis Jacobs and Missouri’s Ty’Ron Hopper could also be Day 3 options.

Interior offensive line

Day 1 – Graham Barton, Duke: Played left tackle and center for Duke and tested like an elite athlete. There’s a chance he could play tackle despite ideal length. There’s a chance he could be an elite guard or center. Zach Tom-like athlete and versatility.

Day 2 – Tanor Bortolini, Wisconsin: Excellent blend of versatility (played tackle, guard and center) and elite athleticism (9.77 RAS). Potential future starter at guard or center. Jordan Morgan (second round?) and Brandon Coleman (third round?) also fit.

Day 3 – Nick Gargiulo, South Carolina: Yale transfer who played left tackle and center in the Ivy League before transferring into the SEC and splitting starts at center and guard as a team captain at South Carolina. Another interior blocker with incredible versatility and athleticism.

Offensive tackle

Day 1 – Tyler Guyton, Oklahoma:Massive offensive tackle prospect with elite overall athleticism and incredible movement skills. Made only 15 starts but upside is huge. Pre-draft visitor and Senior Bowl participant. Still only 21. Troy Fautanu of Washington would be another option if he falls into range.

Day 2 – Kingsley Suamataia, BYU: Started 12 games on the right side and 11 on the left side for BYU. Another big man with terrific athleticism. Notre Dame’s Blake Fisher and Washington’s Roger Rosengarten also look like ideal Day 2 options.

Day 3 – Tylan Grable, UCF:Made 43 starts at left tackle and ran under 5.0 seconds in the 40-yard dash at 6-5 and over 300 pounds. Transfer from Jacksonville State who made the switch from tight end to tackle. Garrett Greenfield of SDSU (31 starts at left tackle, 24 at right) is another intriguing Day 3 option.

Cornerback

Day 1 – Cooper DeJean, Iowa:He can play out wide and in the slot, and he both tackles and takes the ball away. Still only 21, DeJean is an elite athlete with legitimate playmaking ability. One of the best fits for the Packers in the draft class. Alabama’s Kool-Aid McKinstry is another terrific fit.

Day 2 – Max Melton, Rutgers: The younger brother of Packers receiver Bo Melton. Like his brother, Melton is an elite athlete. He started 40 games in the Big Ten and was a playmaker, producing 30 pass breakups, eight interceptions and three blocked kicks. T.J. Tampa and Andru Phillips are also Day 2 fits.

Day 3 – Elijah Jones, Boston College: Played for Jeff Hafley at Boston College and checks all the boxes for the Packers in terms of size and athleticism at corner. Decamerion Richardson of Miss. State is another early Day 3 possibility.

Running back

Day 1 – N/A: No running back in the draft class is good enough to be considered with a first-round pick.

Day 2 – Lots of options here: Jonathon Brooks, Texas; Trey Benson, Florida State; Jaylen Wright, Tennessee. Getting one of these three would immediately give the Packers a better long-term future at running back while also potentially upgrading the No. 2 role behind Josh Jacobs in 2024.

Day 3 – Tyrone Tracy Jr., Purdue: Former receiver who now looks like an explosive, game-breaking runner. Has elusiveness and receiving ability and can also return kicks. Is 24 years old but will enter the NFL with limited usage and a lot of upside.
