In Yo Jackson’s research, the effects of appraisal on children in foster care were examined. They found a linear response with appraisal and coping mechanisms for youth mental health and saw it did not vary based on age. Yo Jakson, Penn State Department of Psychology along with many others extensively research the effects positive and negative correlations with youth in foster care and their mental health behaviors.
